The Chinese Embassy in Cambodia has announced that several Cambodian natural products have officially completed export procedures to China and can be shipped to the nation with immediate effect.
According to Thursday’s statement from the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC), its registration information on overseas manufacturers of imported food has shown that Cambodia can now export its products directly to China.
All approved products will be exported by Cambodian company KIM CHOU Co.,LTD Import-Export & International Transportation. Products given the green light for export include wild fish, shrimp, eels and river snails, the statement added.
Im Rachna, spokeswoman and undersecretary of state at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), said,
"For this export’s opening to China, MAFF is very happy to hear this good news and hope the Cambodian agriculture products that are allowed to export to China will be seen and supported by Chinese customers.”
She added that this achievement forms part of the country's development, especially in supporting the agriculture and fisheries sector to grow. At the same time, it can enhance products' quality, which fits with people's needs, including China’s international standard and hygiene levels.
The MAFF spokeswoman confirmed that this agreement can provide many benefits for Cambodian farmers. Importantly, it can encourage Cambodia -China trade to increase year-to-year.
She also noted that this is a good opportunity for Cambodia to be on the international stage and that can bring more outcomes, even in China.
In November, China and Cambodia jointly signed a raft of standard agreements for export, including protocols for control requirements and hygiene levels of natural products to export from Cambodia.
Moreover, on May 24, related export companies in Cambodia completed registration with the food manufacturers of the Chinese customs administration.
Cambodian natural products are the second type of agricultural product in Cambodia given the go-ahead to be exported to China in 2023.
