Cambodian swimmer Antoine de Lapparent failed to secure a medal in the final round of the 50m men's backstroke at the Southeast Asian Games 2023.

On May 7, Antoine de Lapparent failed to secure a medal and finished seventh in the final round of the 50m Backstroke Men at the Swimming Pool Building Center in the Morodok Techo National Stadium.

Indonesia was the first winner of the eight countries to reach the final round, followed by the Philippines and Singapore.

Lapparent, a swimmer representing Cambodia, said on Sunday on the Khmer Swimming Federation’s page before the final round that he is grateful to see too many supporters backing him and he is happy to reach the final.

“So, many people see me, including my family. Before coming to the SEA Games, I didn't know there were too many supporters in Phnom Penh,” he said. “I'm hoping to bring a medal to Cambodia this time.”
