Tributes have been paid to “hard-working, prolific” Filipino journalist, Jose Rodriguez T. Señase, who died yesterday in Phnom Penh.

With more than a decade of experience working in the media under his belt, Jose's career in Cambodia started in 2016 and saw him rise to the ranks of deputy sports editor at the Khmer Times.

Prior to that, he worked at the Leyte Samar Daily Express in the Philippines, Palau Horizon in Tia Belau, and the Island Times in Palau.

He died on February 1, 2023, at the age of 41.

A statement from the Overseas Press Club of Cambodia (OPCC), of which Jose served on the board in 2020, said, “Jose will be remembered by Cambodia’s journalist community as a smiling, friendly face – a frequent sight at OPCC events – and a hard-working, prolific reporter”.

“Well-known as a consistent fixture in Cambodian journalism and well-liked for his jovial rapport with those he met, Jose will be missed,” the statement added.

In a statement published in the Khmer Times, the publication’s publisher, Mohan Bandam, described Jose as a “dedicated and committed writer with a true love for sports and a knack for getting inside stories”
