The Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation (MISTI) will organize Cambodia Tech Expo 2022 (CTX 2022) from November 11 to 13 at Diamond Island Convention and Exhibition Center (Venue 1) and Factory Phnom Penh (Venue 2).

CTX 2022 will be organized in conjunction with the ASEAN Summit, of which Cambodia is the host nation.

ASEAN economic ministers, ASEAN secretariat representatives, ASEAN ambassadors, and international dialogue partners will attend the event to share experiences, new trends, challenges, and advances related to technology, the economy, digital culture, and the fourth-generation industrial revolution.

Aun Pornmoniroth, Minister of Economy and Finance, said in a news release that the event is to promote awareness, research, and development, and the establishment of joint networks between small and medium businesses, industry, and investors to facilitate the development of new technologies in Cambodia.

“It is expected that the event will have a total of about 400 booths and is expected to have about 60,000 participants,” the minister said.

Cham Prasidh, Senior Minister of MISTI, noted that CTX 2022 is a program designed to show the potential and growth of local technology businesses seeking foreign investors to invest in Cambodia as well as in the ASEAN countries.

The Cambodian government has been promoting the ecosystem for the development of science, technology, and innovation by launching a series of policies and roadmaps.

These include the National Policy on Science, Technology, and Innovation 2020-2030, Cambodia Technology and Innovation 2030 Agricultural Technology Roadmap, Education Technology Roadmap, and Health Technology Roadmap, and plans to develop roadmaps for a number of priority technologies that serve the Cambodian economy and society.

"The Ministry has been working to organize and promote the science, technology and innovation and national innovation systems to ensure that Cambodia becomes a high middle-income country by 2030 and a high-income country by 2050," said Kan Chanmeta, Secretary of State of MISTI.

At Factory Phnom Penh, nearly 100 booths will be reserved for tech startups and entrepreneurs to showcase their products. Hackathons, interactive demonstrations, and pitching sessions are some key activities that form part of the Startup Investment Network.
