Cambodia exported more than 637,000 tons of rice last year, with nearly half going to China, official data showed on Friday.
Data released by Hean Vanhan, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, showed that 32.1 percent of the 637,004 tons of rice were exported to the EU, while 45.3 percent was exported to China.
The 637,004 tons of rice were valued at $414 million, Cambodia Rice Federation said, adding that the country also exported a total of 3.4 million tons of unmilled rice, generating another $1.2 billion in revenue.
Among the 637,004 tons, 10.2 percent was exported to ASEAN countries and 12.4 percent was exported to other countries, the same data showed.
Cambodia’s total export of rice in 2021 was 617,069 tons, with 50.2 percent going to China and 25.2 percent to the EU.
Rice exports in 2020 were 690,829 tons, with 42 percent exported to China and 29.5 percent to the EU, the data showed.
