Prime Minister Hun Sen has urged Cambodia Oknha Association to strengthen its solidarity to assist society and charity works, while accepting the position of Honorary President.
In a meeting with the Cambodia Oknha Association on Thursday, Hun Sen advised the Cambodia Oknha Association to help the government with economic and social growth, particularly poverty reduction. He also urged all tycoons to strengthen solidarity to assist social workers, humanitarian activities, and needy individuals.
He said that living in a society is inseparable between the rich and the poor. The Prime Minister added, "The rich should take care of the poor like the cloth which surrounds you. The wise should watch over the ignorant like the ships do a sampan.”
Ly Yong Phat, President of the Cambodia Oknha Association, said that Hun Sen's participation as Honorary President of the Association is an example of his caring and promoting the association that will continue to improve Cambodia's economy.
Hun Lak, spokesman of the Cambodia Oknha Association, said the association was founded in 2022 and has already completed the statute book, policy, and documents. However, they only received notification from the government last month.
“The major purpose for collaborating with the government is to contribute to societal activities, charity, and to increase commerce and investment,” he said. “It will be the priority of the Cambodia Oknha Association.”
On October 25, 2022, it was formally established and recognized as a legal association by the Ministry of Interior. Currently, It is led and supervised by 32 members of the Directors Board for a five-year term, with the Secretariat carrying out everyday work under the guidance of the Secretary-General.
