The National Assembly of Cambodia on Wednesday approved the border trade agreement between Cambodia and Vietnam, allowing for the free flow of goods and services between the two countries, which will help to create jobs and boost economic growth.
According to a statement posted on Facebook page of the parliament, National Assembly President Heng Samrin said on Wednesday that the trade agreement is important for national development and promoting the trade, economic and social sectors, as well as cooperation with neighbouring countries.
The statement said that the Cambodia-Vietnam trade agreement will contribute to the implementation of strategies to strengthen business connections aimed at capturing business and marketing and export frontlines by providing job and business opportunities, and stimulating manufacturing.
In addition, it will help boost trade for family businesses by promoting and improving the livelihoods of Cambodians living on the Cambodian-Vietnam border, the statement added.
