Cambodia’s leading telecommunications and digital technology provider, Metfone, is celebrating another major milestone after hitting one million subscribers on its YouTube channel, making it the fastest-growing YouTube channel in Cambodia’s telecom industry history.

The company said the remarkable achievement on YouTube is due to the raft of popular entertainment and educational content it produces. This includes well-known animation video series “Kradas Sar”, the top weekly education program produced by Metfone.

Another popular video series on Metfone’s YouTube Channel that has proved popular with viewers is “Path of Dharma”, an award-winning form of religious content that is playing a part in boosting the channel’s fast subscription rate.

Last year, Metfone scooped a gold prize for the Best Education and Training Product of the Year from Globee Awards for its “Path of Dharma” series. This year, Metfone also won an award for best corporate social responsibility program of the year for “It’s Not A Dream” reality TV show at the Globee Awards.

Metfone has also been producing more entertainment content on YouTube Shorts, a platform for short-form videos. This is also one of the strategies to diversify content and make the channel more attractive.

“One million subscriptions is a huge achievement that we, at Metfone, are really proud of. This milestone is a testament to our YouTube channel’s popularity and the virality of the content which we have put a lot of effort into producing,” said Viettel Cambodia Company (Metfone) Vice General Director, Nhong Dinthan.

According to the channel’s analytics, the total number of viewers hit 15.1 million, while watch time reached 369.8k hours.

“The figures and analytics are very encouraging for us. This makes us at Metfone even more committed to bringing more digital content to the audiences – the content which is entertaining, informative and educational,” Dinthan added.

Metfone is one of the largest telecom operators in Cambodia, covering 99 percent of the country’s population. It offers a wide range of services to its subscribers, including music and entertainment and money transfer.

In Cambodia, Metfone has actively joined in digital transformation via projects in education, sports and information technology, as well as funded social welfare projects.

With one million subscribers for its channel, Metfone is also submitting an application to earn a Gold Play button from YouTube. It will be the first telecommunications company in Cambodia to apply for this. [Partnered Content]
