China Donates Military Equipment and Vehicles to Cambodia

China has provided Cambodia with 107 military vehicles and other equipment to increase its defense capacity and modernize operations

The Chinese Defense Ministry has provided a grant of 107 vehicles and military equipment to the Cambodian Ministry of Defense for military service.

On September 20, the Chinese Defense Ministry made the donation at a ceremony in Kampong Chhnang province joined by Minister of National Defense of Cambodia, Tea Banh, and the Chinese Ambassador of Cambodia, Wang Wentian.

The agreement took place between Sao Sokha, deputy commander of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and commander of the National Gendarmerie, and the Chinese Military Attaché to Cambodia.

Banh said officers must now learn how to use all of the materials that Cambodia has received from the Chinese government, especially in the field of defense. In addition, it is key that they pay attention to the maintenance of the materials.

“I would like to emphasize to all officers and military to pay attention in training to use the materials effectively to serve our needs. This work is not easy and simple. we have to be really careful, we have to learn to be proficient, then these materials are effective when we use them,” he said.

He added that all materials that Cambodia receives will push its abilities to perform duties more efficiently and quickly.

“Our level of defense is constantly being inspired. Not only do we use force, but we need to have modern materials to help us travel very fast and operate on real targets.”

Chinese Ambassador of Cambodia, Wentian, said that cooperation between Cambodia and China has been nurtured under the care of the two leaders. This has built and promoted friendship between the two countries and both armies have been strengthened. He added that both countries have built many achievements, such as the training of human resources, exchange of experience, and military and other aids.

“These military aids have covered all the necessary equipment for the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, especially Cambodian gendarmerie. I sincerely enjoy the continuous development of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and the modernization of weapons and military infrastructure, national security and local stability," he said.

On September 1, the Chinese Defense Ministry provided a grant of 150 vehicles to the Cambodian Ministry of Defense to host the ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting at the end of 2022.
