Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority (PPWSA) on Friday appealed to the population and businesses not to waste water as the capital city and Takhmau town face a shortage of water.

In the announcement, PPWAS said that the water shortage has caused people in the outskirts of Phnom Penh and Takhmau unable to access clean water for daily use. This appeal is a solution to save water ahead of the new water plant being put into use in May.

The appeal includes an urgent call for people and businesses not to use motors to pump water, as this may cause shortages in other areas.

Other saving measures include calls for people to change their routine in water consumption and that car wash businesses suspend washing during April and May.
