Cambodia has broken a world record for the Largest Display of Origami Hearts, with nearly four million folden hearts displayed in a heart shape in front of the famed Angkor Wat temple ahead of the upcoming Khmer New Year.

The Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC), which organized the campaign, said on Tuesday that the country officially broke the Guinness World Record for the most “Paper Hearts”, with 3,917,805.

Prime Minister Hun Sen’s youngest son, Hun Many, who led the UYFC, said that achieving this world record is the result of the hard work of every Cambodian who has given a heart of love to the national team players for the upcoming SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games by turning the heart of a representative.

In a tweet, UK Ambassador Dominic Williams congratulated Cambodia for the record and expressed regret that his country has lost the crown to Cambodia.

“As UK Amb., I should probably feel regret that we have lost our origami heart-making world crown. But Cambodia hasn’t just edged past us, it has launched into the stratosphere - nearly 4m! A special way to mark SEA Games,” Williams said.
