Students across the nation have been given 28 days off school during the 32nd SEA Games and 12th ASEAN Para Games, with the possibility to study online.

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS) announced on Thursday that public school and private educational institutions will take 28 days off during the 32nd SEA Games and 12th ASEAN Para Games, but online study could be allowed depending on the institution's curriculum.

Cambodia will host the 32nd SEA Games on May 5 to 17 and the ASEAN Para Games from June 3 to 9.

To participate in the maintenance of safety and support the events, the Ministry is introducing small children's education foundations, Primary Foundations, Average Foundations Study General And Public Technical Knowledge to all schools from April 20 to May 17.

“Not only the public but private educational institutions must take 28 days off as well in order to collaborate with the ministry, university institutions could take days off too with private and public schools,” MoEYS said.

“MoEYS also allows schools to prepare for teaching and examinations online or through any required programs or classroom instructions on a practical basis, depending on the institution's curriculum and study schedule,” the statement added.

The move enables them to participate in volunteer activities or any assignment that supports the organisation of the SEA Games and the ASEAN Para Games.
