Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Sar Kheng has tested positive for Covid-19, he announced on his official Facebook page on Friday.
In his post, Kheng said that he felt unwell so got tested and the results came back positive. He said he is currently isolating himself and following health guidelines.
Kheng, who this week awarded medals to SEA Games' athletes, also said he is able to work from home as usual and that he apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause. He said he will continue to update the public on his condition and follow the health guidelines until he recovers.
Cambodia's Covid-19 cases total 138,736, with a death toll of 3,056 as of the morning of May 11.
The Cambodian government has implemented a number of measures to try to contain the spread of the virus, including lockdowns, travel restrictions, and mass vaccination campaigns. Moreover, the country started to open in late 2022.

As of May 11, Cambodia is the only neighboring country of Laos that had no reported cases of Covid-19. Vietnam has 2,507 cases, and Thailand has 1,699 cases. according to Worldometers.
