ACLEDA Bank has teamed up with retail convenience store giant 7-Eleven to ensure customers can make digital payments via ACLEDA KHQR at all stores across Cambodia.

According to the bank, shoppers are now able to pay via ACLEDA KHQR at all 7-Eleven stores in the Kingdom, which amounts to 48 as of February.

ACLEDA Bank’s vice president and deputy head of marketing division, Phal Sokchamroeun, said 7-Eleven has chosen the bank as its partner to deploy the ACLEDA KHQR digital payment system to provide their clients with convenient digital payment options when they shop.

Now, 7-Eleven shoppers can pay simply by scanning KHQR from ACLEDA Mobile, which works across all banks through intermediary system Bakong App.

“Digital payment via ACLEDA KHQR scan facilitates cash flow and operational management as well as minimizes operation costs,” said Phal Sokchamroeun.

“Digital payment systems like ACLEDA KHQR contribute to payment innovations, promote financial inclusion and facilitate inter-bank payment transactions. It also strengthens the safety of payment systems in Cambodia and across the borders,” he added.

The bank’s mobile banking app ACLEDA Mobile, according to Sokchamroeun, has seen a sharp increase in the number of users. As of March 2023, the number of ACLEDA Mobile users has hit nearly three million.

“The increase in the number of the [ACLEDA] mobile app [downloads] shows that more and more people have improved trust in the safety and convenience of the mobile banking technology,” said Acleda Bank’s vice president.

“Now, in addition, people who travel to Thailand can use ACLEDA Mobile to make payments via QR Code scans, and the bank continues to expand this cross-border payment scheme to other ASEAN countries very soon,” he added.

In Cambodia, according to ACLEDA Bank, more than 200,000 business partners all over the country representing all types of business, big or small, are partnering with ACLEDA Bank to provide safe and most convenient digital payments.
