ACLEDA Customers Can Pay in riel via QR Scan in Thailand

In a groundbreaking move, ACLEDA account holders can now pay in Khmer riel via QR scan while in Thailand with four Thai banks.

Cambodians living in or traveling to Thailand can now make payments in Khmer riel via QR scan with ACLEDA Mobile through four Thai banks, according to an announcement from ACLEDA.

The four Thai banks are Kasikornbank (KBank), Siam Commercial Bank (SCB), Bangkok Bank, and the Bank of Ayudhya.

The daily amounts allowable for QR scan payment is 5 million riels for ACLEDA Mobile accounts and 10 million riels for ACLEDA Bank accounts.

The latest development in cross-border digital payment in Khmer riel comes after ACLEDA Bank Plc.​ was chosen​ by the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) as the sponsoring bank for KHR cross-border payments via QR code with ASEAN neighboring countries, including Vietnam and Lao PDR.

The KHR cross-border payment via QR code with ACLEDA Mobile app was launched in Thailand in February 2020.

ACLEDA Bank Plc. has four subsidiaries. They are ACLEDA Institute of Business, ACLEDA Securities Plc., ACLEDA Bank Lao Ltd., and ACLEDA MFI Myanmar Co., Ltd. as well as representative offices in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
