Agritech Accelerator SAAMBAT, which includes a Challenge Fund of $200,000 for five startups, aims to help businesses within the sector along all steps of the journey, from shaping a business model to product launching.

Hem Ratha, SAAMBAT’s Digital Agriculture Value Chain Consultant, said, “In one year, the accelerator program will select up to five groups of entrepreneurs to receive $200,000. We will teach business plans and teach them to do more research in marketing. We push entrepreneurs who want to increase their marketing, and we will help them reach out to their customers.”

Mak Chamroeun, Chairman of AGRIBEE, a technology platform for agriculture value chain, said the Digital Agriculture Accelerator is beneficial for tech startups to help farmers in rural areas to further push the agriculture sector. This is achieved through partnerships with the government with a focus on technology to help farmers better access the market.

“They can make it an ecosystem,” he said. “They should build eco-technologies through partnerships at private companies or non-government organizations who are working in the technology field.” Chamroeun added that he hopes SAAMBAT, led by the government, will try to find partnerships to enable the project to continue.

Operating from 2019 to 2026, SAAMBAT (Sustainable Assets for Agriculture Markets, Business and Trade) is a $124 million partnership investment from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), European Investment Bank, and the European Union Grant.
